Marburger Farm Antique Show

I recently traveled  to Round Top, TX for the Marburger Farm Antique Show. This is about a 1.5 hour drive northwest of Houston. I’ve heard about this show from a few people and read that it’s one of the country’s best shows, so I thought it was worth making the trek. Since we’re building a home, I’ve been doing more window shopping lately. Normally, I hate going places without having a true purpose, but I’m still looking for home inspiration, especially on the decor front.  Overall, it was good to get a feel for the show and vendors since it comes twice a year —  March and September. I’ll definitely go back in the fall when we’re farther in the home building process, and I’ll have more specific pieces in mind. A few accessories caught my eye, and I did find two custom furniture stores I loved  as well. I plan to place an order for a pair of chairs that I think will look great in our new living room. The experience here as a first-timer was a tad overwhelming since there are 350 dealers from across the country in the show. I actually liked more of the vendors we saw along the way to the actual main Marburger Farm area.

 

We bought some metal letters to hang up in the new house. It took awhile to find the shapes that I had in mind. This was our only real purchase of the day.  It was a nice mid-week day trip.

I would consider spreading  my next visit to Marburger Farm over two days so we can look at more vendors, but I’m glad we went on the first day and on a weekday — I can only imagine how crowded it gets on the weekend, especially with all those one lane, small town roads! Overall, we had a nice day despite the some light rain. I’ll definitely go again, but probably sans child. I wouldn’t want to spend most of the day strapped in a stroller after being in a car seat for awhile either. Well, actually, I’d really love if someone would push me around and ask me if I’m thirsty or hungry all day. Sounds pretty dreamy actually! Our day trip to Round Top was actually on my birthday so I’d say it was a simple, yet wonderful birthday adventure. Does that mean I’m super old now if I want to go hunting for antiques on my birthday?!
